Dear Law By Choice For Freedom (LBCFF) Team,
Here is an appeal from a sister in Canada dealing with the abortion issue
that has come to our attention of late. We must deal with this, and we
will by God’s grace. Following Leora’s appeal are some of my thoughts.
God bless,
Gerry

AN URGENT APPEAL:
Only a few days ago appalling widely-publicized decisions regarding
abortion and infanticide were celebrated in the secular news. I am now
nearing 89 years old and a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist
(SDA) Church. It has come to my attention that the SDA church as a body
has taken no stance on the sixth commandment. It has been so hushed up that I just became aware of a “silent” sin of abortion being practiced without any censure, countenanced by church leaders. Consequently there is blood on our hands if we, like Pilate, wash our hands of responsibility and continue to allow the immorality of murder to continue without protest or efforts to terminate the practice. There are dire consequences for murder.
We cannot deny that abortion and infanticide are murder, which is part of the current death culture in North America. This is a repeat of the ancient child sacrifice practiced by pagans and apostate Israelites.
The advent movement was raised up by God to honour all of the ten
commandments. The only way that we show our love to God is in how we
treat our “neighbour”, especially those who are the most defenseless—the unborn, the infants, the orphans, etc. If we are to “love our neighbour as
ourselves” and “work no ill to our neighbour” we will not allow harm to
come to them. Nor will we be silent when we should speak out against sin
being practiced among us.
I respectfully request that the issue of abortion be addressed by the
decision-making body of the church at the 2020 General Conference in
session. The SDA Church must take a solid stand on the sacredness of life
if we believe the ten commandments. If we self-righteously champion
“remembering” the Sabbath, yet we ignore the clear four-word command, THOU SHALT NOT KILL in the second table of the law, we are practicing
hypocrisy. The ongoing crime of abortion has been successfully hidden for many years from the general population of the church. A clearly stated position by the world church is long overdue. It becomes a sin of omission and commission to conceal and ignore murder. By refusing to deal with sin we are accounted as participants.
We know in advance of it happening that our stance on the commandments is going to be mocked and ridiculed by the world. It is a deserved mockery
unless there are drastic changes in attitudes and actions of our SDA
hospitals, clinics, doctors, nurses, ministers, elders—anyone who can do
something to stop this horrendous crime from staining the name of the
Adventist church. Unless there are changes, not only in policy, but in
actual practice regarding the sanctity of life, the church as a whole is
going to reap dreadful consequences as did Israel of old. One of God’s
warnings was that if the Israelites “shed innocent blood” they would be
cast out. (see Jer. 7:1-15). His principles have not changed. They did
what He forbade! And God rejected and cast them out!
It takes courage to stand up in the face of such long-standing
indifference and inaction. It will also take courage to take a stance for
preserving life and dealing with those who are murderers among us.
However, when we read that Daniel, the three Hebrews, and the martyrs that preceded us “yielded up their bodies” rather than sin by even a word, can we do less? In preparation to face the judgment we must come to the place that we prefer death rather than to sin. When we remain silent in the presence of evil among us we assume the corporate guilt. We who can speak must be a voice for the unborn and defenseless. The sin of aborting infants must stop. I raise my voice against it. And I plead with my beloved church to do its duty—repent and take action to stop the murdering of infants NOW. Let the world know that we truly believe and observe all ten commandments and that we consider all human life sacred.
Leora Schmidt
PS. If you are in agreement with the convictions expressed above, please
add your voice and express your own appeal, and address the decision
makers in the SDA Church. This is urgent. This appeal is not condemnation of someone who in the past has had an abortion. Such a person is scarred,
can repent and find forgiveness…but there is a price to pay. One married
woman whom I knew was so overcome with guilt and grief from having an
abortion that in her depressed condition she committed suicide.
Furthermore, if I knew how to proceed I would make this letter a petition
for action by our church leaders. Historically our pioneers called sin by
its right name. Somehow, in the 1970’s that changed. We MUST reverse the
direction away from immoral, sinful, worldly practices to a clear stand
for life and not destroying it. . LS
Gerry’s thoughts:
Law By Choice For Freedom is an independent organization established to
make available to everyone in the world, that would like a copy, of that
which God wrote with His own finger on stone tablets. These Words became
flesh and dwelt among us in the person of Jesus Christ.
It has been said that “Each of us, though in the company of others,
ultimately we walk alone with God.”. That is the context we take the Word
of God to the world, it is for each person individually to make a choice
either for or against the Law of God, the character of God, the person
Jesus. We want no one lost for lack of knowledge, (Hosea 4:6).
Right now the test is over the second table of the Law of God and it is
easy for us to see that the two that are most obviously under attack right
now are the sixth and seventh commandments. Thou shalt not kill and Thou shalt not commit adultery; the destruction of the family unit as outlined by God.
These are the two first mentioned by Paul when talking about the ten
commandments in Romans 13:9 and also these are the two quoted by James in James 2:11 to validate the whole law. Many times abortion is a result of
adultery and these are the sins that are being legitimatized by governments
and societies all over the world and those who don’t go along are being
targeted. Here are just two sites that illustrate this, there are many
more that will enlighten us with a simple search of the web:

Any church or person that does not stand up for the innocent, the babies
in the womb and out of the womb are killing and will suffer the
consequences. The present truth for today is that we must stand for the
second table of the law of God along with the first table, if we fail on
this: the treatment of those among us, God will never use us to defend the
first table of the law of God which identifies Him as creator.
Isaiah 58 begins with “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a
trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob
their sins.” verse 1. The next nine verses talk about how God will judge
those who do not take care of and love their fellow man, the second table
of the law of God.
Some have said that we must not speak to boldly or be passionate, we must
just kind of whisper and suggest that maybe we should stop killing the
babies, if not now maybe in a few months or years if it fits your schedule.
No “Cry aloud, spare not…” right now, every day babies are dying, not by
unbelievers only, but by some who profess to teach the Ten Commandments of God. I am not with those and they must be brought to a change of heart and repent or leave us. We stand with those leaders defending the families,
the innocent, the helpless. Can’t we hear the sounds of the coming
judgments of God in our land for these things?
In the last four verses in Isaiah 58 He tells of the blessings if we obey
Him and how it is our duty also to worship God and recognize His love,
kingship and authority in our live. We are told over and over by Jesus
that if we don’t love our fellow man we will never love God (1 John
4:19-21). Mark 3:1-6 is a clear illustration of this principle, if we
think we are worshiping God and pleasing Him and upholding the first table of the Law and yet not helping the innocent and less fortunate among us we are hypocrites.
“If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. If thou
forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready
to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that
pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he
know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?”
Proverbs 24:10-12
When Jesus healed the man with the withered hand the religious leaders
sought to kill Him, they were so blind they were willing to kill the God
who they professed to be worshiping and defending!
Right now it is starting with the most innocent among us, those who there
could be no excuse to kill, the unborn those still in the womb, can you
imagine a more innocent creature? If we can sanction killing these babies
then we are blind. No one should die for the sins of the fathers. Paul
was accused of saying, “…let us do evil that good may come…” Romans 3:8
he totally repudiated that accusation, but can we if we sanction abortion?
Two wrongs never make a right. We must repent now!
This paper is not here to give a Bible study on this subject, if we don’t
see it by common sense and from reading the Bible we never will, we will be just like the leaders that sought to kill Jesus even though He healed and
brought people from the dead, what blindness. Here are just a few verses
where the Bible clearly calls babies in the mother: children, brothers,
sons, baby – Genesis 25:22; Ruth 1:11; 2 Kings 19:3; Isaiah 37:3; Hosea
12:3; Luke 1:36.
What is going on right now is not secret, it’s in plain sight for all to
see on the internet, just google abortion and pick a church name or group
and you will find the information. Jeremiah said he did not have to look
for it in secret, it was open for all to see.
“Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents:
I have not foundit by secret search, but upon all these.” Jeremiah 2:34
In the following verses we see that abortion and infanticide were a great
sin, adultery is listed first then killing babies. They burned their
babies. Today we kill them and then cremate the bodies of our babies then
we go to church and worship, like they did on the Sabbath. God help us!
“That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with
their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons,
whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.
Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.”
Ezekiel 23:37-40
It’s a sin like any other sin that must be repented of and let the blood
of Jesus cover our sins, we love Him because He first loved us. By God’s
grace let us repent and not be like they were in Jeremiahs day:
“And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the
son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the
fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.” Jeremiah
32:35 “They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared,
nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before
your fathers. 44:10 “Then all the men… answered Jeremiah, saying, As for
the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee. But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of
Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no
evil.” 44:15-17
They had plenty of food, lots of money and all was well… they thought…
until the judgments came. Today there is a lot of money in abortion, so we
think. “Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And
all the people shall say, Amen.” Deuteronomy 27:25
Jesus fed thousands with two small fish and five loaves of bread, the boy
gave Him his lunch in faith knowing Jesus would provide a solution to a
problem that men had no answer for. People excuse killing to correct what
they see as a problem with over population and say: let us do evil that
good may come, a horrible wrong approach. We obey and leave the results in God’s hands. He always makes a way where we see no way. Trust and Obey is always the way. May God lead us in strength and His power.
